With a physical good company that operates primarily online and through many brick and mortar locations managing incoming inventory and store to store inventory can be complicated. Working with the client to identify their needs and solution a product that enables them to operate specifically to their process.
Asked to lead the effort to come up with a new product UI look and feel.
How do we manage inventory across store locations with multiple warehouse locations and a verbose online sales channel? Defining the over all process that each store takes to manage and share inventory along with the requests for new inventory from a warehouse nearest them with the product.
Through interviews with multiple stakeholders in the company we could identify the largest issues faced when managing inventory. Using that data gathered in the interviews we could define the roles affected by the product and set guidelines to provide value to them to achieve success.
Through a very collaborative design process the initial design evolved from the initial concept to the final solution. Weekly stakeholder meetings and reviews of the design accompanied the revisions to the design files. Prototypes were built and shared with key users in various locations to test usability and completeness of features. Once a final design had been established by the design team development took part with multiple rounds of testing continued.

Regular checks to verify locations inventory.
Transfer inventory from one location to another.
Admin user control to allow access or deny access.
Ability to make adjustment to inventory.
Track inventory regularly at location triggered by HQ
Return overstock or return to warehouse for transfer
Receipt of transfer so that tracking can be completed.
1 Custom isn’t always easier: When dealing with a custom problem for a small set of users may seem easy but having a more direct smaller issue to uncover the complexity can add extra levels of difficulty.
2 Always Dig Deeper: Working though a problem may seem like the solution is presenting itself. Dig deeper to as why until you can’t anymore. Uncovering the users true process and frictions can inform the way you need to solution.
